This kit was created to honour Amy Lou and Gertie and the incredible story that touched hearts during Nova Scotia's devastating 2023 wildfires.

During the evacuation, little Gertie became separated from her family and spent four days alone in the woods. Amy Lou was part of the animal-rescue effort helping families and their pets during the fires, and she and her team eventually helped bring Gertie safely home.

Gertie's full story is included with the kit, adding a meaningful Nova Scotia connection to the crafting experience.
